BVLGARI RESORT & RESIDENCES DUBAI LAUNCH, BECOMING THE CITY’S MOST EXPENSIVE HOTEL

Luxury jewellers Bvlgari have opened the doors on their debut Dubai hotel venture – a property that shoots straight to the top of the list as the city’s most expensive tourist accommodation.

Housed on its own private island a 300 metre bridge from Downtown Dubai, the Jumeirah coastline resort, run in partnership with Meraas, is the work of Italian design powerhouse Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, and hosts 101 rooms and suites set across four floors.

The hotel has its own private marina and is home to 20 hotel villas, each sitting back from the beach with their own private pools, outdoor terraces and personal butler service. Residences are also in the pipeline, with more than 100 going on the market.

Throughout the 13 hectare Jumeriah Bay ‘Seahorse Island’ – described by developers as an ‘urban oasis’ with a Mediterranean village feel – The Bvlgari Resort & Residences Dubai offers a full range of amenities, such as the gourmet Il Ristorante – Niko Romito, the Il Café, Il Bar with its iconic oval-shaped freestanding bar, and La Spiaggia – the resort’s most exclusive beach Club with private beach and a unique mosaic-design outdoor swimming pool.

Guests can also enjoy a 1,700 square-metre Spa with hammam, indoor pool, fitness centre, beauty salon with a traditional barbershop and hairdresser.

To add relish to the guest’s stay, the complex comprises a private Marina featuring 50 boat berths and the first world’s Bvlgari Yacht Club with peerless views over the sea.

The atmosphere and ambience of the relatively low-rise island is said to be deliberately personal and understated, despite it’s unique location and vicinity to the city’s central hub. Surrounded by lush gardens with Mediterranean vegetation, the Resort blends traditional design with contemporary Italian architecture, accentuated by Middle Eastern touches such as a custom-designed brise soleil. Patterned like winding coral and conceived as a tribute to both the sea and Arabic tradition for sun shading, the coral pattern is extended above the windowed views giving onto Dubai’s skyline and the Arabian Gulf.

“We tried to introduce a European, human scale to the architecture,” explained Patricia Viel. “You never walk alongside a building in Dubai. What we tried to do here is exactly the opposite to what is out there.”

Pep Lozano, the resort’s general manager, said: “The journey to the opening of a resort of this scale, is always a long and much anticipated one. We couldn’t be happier with how spectacular this resort has become. It is something very unique for guests to come to an island within the heart of a city, where we will be the only resort. It is like a private island yet minutes from some of the city’s most famous attractions. We are extremely proud to have secured this incredible location.”

Since branching out into hotels back in 2004, Bvlgari have illustrated through their developments in locations such as Milan, London, Bali that they are more than capable of delivering superlative sparkle to high-net-worth travellers.
